About Us

Lao Silk & Craft is an online retail and wholesale business based in Melbourne, managed by Boby Vosinthavong.

My passion and love for the art and craft of weaving and handicrafts was ingrained in me since I was a little girl, growing up amongst my extended family of farmers and weavers in Laos. As an adult woman I value my cultural identity and heritage.

My mother Kommaly Chanthavong has inspired me to expand on her good works amongst the poorer areas of northern and central Laos.

I recently established Lao Silk & Craft. My aim is to bring the timeless beauty of Lao silk and handicraft products to the Australian and international markets. My ultimate aim is to help and support Lao producers enter markets that appreciate the distinctive arts & crafts of Lao. I believe that supporting trade is a way out of the poverty rural communities face. I want to encourage the villagers to become self sufficient and preserve their culture and traditions. I want to ensure the continued development and training of local farmers and weavers.

My professional background is accounting and human resources. I feel my personal dedication and professional experience will contribute to the success of Lao Silk & Craft.
